About our Photographic Services

What do I get for my money ?
Virtually all our photographic work is digital these days and unless clients specify otherwise, we present "print ready" Tiff files at 300 dpi on CD - usually having emailed "proofs" beforehand. There is no extra charge for initial "proof" prints or CD but duplicate CDs or reprints are extra (listed on our prices page).

You can choose up to two sizes of image for your CD without extra charge - this means you could have the full-sized image for your records and small er jpeg files for quick viewing or website use. Depending on the nature of the work you can expect an assortment of colour images from the shoot - the size of image is usually agreed between us at the outset.

How many pictures do I get ?
This depends entirely on the kind of shoot. If you require pictures of a great number of small objects - all with identical background and little setting up for each shot, we can sometimes manage twenty or more items per hour - but if images require elaborate backgrounds or setting up, obviously, these take more time. Please ask for a quotation.

What if I don't like the pictures?
On first commissions only, if you do not like the pictures, you simply do not pay for them. Of course, we keep the images but we would not expect our clients to pay for results they are not happy with. However, if we have incurred expences (models, backgrounds, props etc) on your behalf in order to take the pictures, we would expect you to pay for these.

What is the largest print size available?
A3 is the largest popular size we can print "in-house" (although we can also do banners 34cm x 10 mtrs long). If you need larger prints - for an exhibition for instance, we can supply these but we would use Large or Medium Format cameras. This process is more expensive (see our prices page).

What is the largest file size available?
We can produce files of up to 36 Mb at the present time although approximately 18 Mb is our standard size.

What expenses will I have to pay?
We try to keep expenses to a minimum by using natural surroundings or improvised sets where possible but sometimes they are unavoidable. Travelling within england and Wales is charged "one way" as detalied on the prices page. If other items such as models, props and backgrounds are required, you will normally be told about them before the shoot begins.

How much notice do you require ?
We like to have a few days warning to fit you in but we can usually arrange things to allow us to cater for occasional urgent cases.

How flexible is your service?
We do our utmost to accomodate all client requirements - please talk to us about your project - we can normally provide whatever service you need.

Are there any other charges?
As well as the hourly rate for time spent actually on location or in the studio, there is a charge for the extraction and preparation of the digital images. The amount of time this takes depends on the number of images and the subject matter - but as a "rule of thumb" it w ill take around half the time taken to shoot the pictures and is chargeable at the normal rate (see prices page).

Can you work from high locations?
We regularly take pictures from the top of high buildings, church spires and high scaffolding. Heights are normally not a problem!
